The Excelsior Project - 2 Week Check-in
All News Stories

By: Ciera Hansen, a 6th grade Excelsior student
It has been a little over two weeks since the Excelsior Project has started. So, I have decided to go around and ask a few teachers if they have noticed a change in behavior in students ever since the Excelsior Project started.
I have asked Mrs. Hicks, the associate principal at Excelsior Middle School and Mrs. Buonadonna the guidance councilor at Excelsior Middle School if she has gotten more or less bullying referrals. Mrs. Hicks said she has seen kids wanting to stick up for their classmates. Mrs. Buonadonna said that she hasn’t gotten any bullying referrals in the past week or so.
What I have noticed throughout the school, is that kids using manners at lunch and saying please and thank when the lunch ladies serve them. The changes haven’t been that dramatic yet, but I think as the year goes on they will increase.
Keep up the great work Excelsior.
NOTE: The Excelsior Project was created by Amy Sturenfeldt and The Kindness Council. Amy started The Kindness Council as a way to try to promote more kindness at Excelsior. Each student who signs the pledge to participate in The Excelsior Project receives a bracelet stating “Recycle Kindness.” And Ciera Hansen will keep our community updated on what our Excelsior students are doing to pay it forward with kindness.
