I have been teaching in Linn-Mar Community School District for 17 years. I spent two years subbing in long-term positions, 14 years teaching second grade and one year teaching fourth grade at Indian Creek Elementary.
I have a BA in Elementary Education with a Minor in Math from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a Reading Endorsement from Coe College. In 2008 I became a National Board Certified Teacher. This summer, in 2015, I will have my Principal Certification.
I am enjoying my new role as an Instructional Strategist at Westfield Elementary School. I believe it offers great potential in impacting the learning of many students.
I feel, in the short period of time I have been in this role, I have accomplished many things with the staff members at my school. Some of the things we have accomplished:
*collaborating with a certain grade level team to make a science journal to allow student to document their learning *finding resources for differentiate instruction in math and reading
*observing both students and teachers and providing facts about what was observed (focus of the observation was determined in a meeting prior to observation)
*presenting on professional development days
*teaching TQSA classes, co-teaching
*while teacher observe other others in the building or within the District, I cover his/her classroom (discuss experience and what could or will be incorporate into his/her classroom)
*looking at data to help guide differentiation
As the year progresses and relationships have developed with staff members, staff is starting to seek me out and utilize me more. I believe this has been a positive and rewarding experience, thus far, for both me and the staff I support.
The best time to reach me by telephone is from 7:45-8:20. Please feel free to email me any time with questions you may have.
