Parent University – Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Learning Resource Center, (LRC) Board Room
Resident expert and Bowman Woods father, Patrick Morrissey will share ways to protect young users by establishing safe guards with the technology in your home and demonstrate a way to seize control of what your kids can access from your home network.
Morrissey, is a Cyber Security Engineer with Rockwell Collins International who’s worked in the information security field since 1996. Morrissey has a Master degree in Computer Engineering and Information Assurance from Iowa State University, a CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) certification, and serves as attack coordinator for the University of Alaska Cyber Defense Competition (CDC). His time is divided between work, designing and testing security architectures for commercial aircraft systems and at home, where he helps to raise his little hackers (ages 9, 6, and 3). Join us for an opportunity to learn how to protect your children online.
At Linn-Mar we're trying a new 'green' strategy to keep our students' backpacks a little more organized by sending home less paper. The solution? The Virtual Backpack! To find Linn-Mar's Virtual Backpack, go to this web address:
Make sure to BOOKMARK the page for approved flyers on your computer and check it on a regular basis.
We're hoping that the Virtual Backpack will be a useful tool in keeping open lines of communication between home and school while keeping those backpacks a little by neater!
