Mission

We, the Linn-Mar Community, are dedicated to the development of lifelong learners by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to confidently meet life’s challenges as responsible, productive citizens.

Overview

Linn-Mar High School is located in north Marion, Iowa. The school district, one of the fastest growing districts in Iowa for the past five years, covers north Marion, northeast Cedar Rapids, and east Robins in northern Linn County.

The Cedar Rapids-Marion area is part of the I380 corridor and is just 30 minutes from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, 45 minutes from The University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. This is a vibrant area with very low unemployment, a diverse economy, and numerous cultural, recreational, economic, and educational opportunities. Rockwell-Collins Avionics, located in the Linn-Mar district, is the area's largest employer.

Linn-Mar High School is committed to providing a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment for its students. Teachers, parents, students, administrators, law enforcement and other community agencies have worked collaboratively to create and maintain a climate conducive to quality teaching and learning.

Linn-Mar High School is one of the largest high schools, in terms of square footage, in the state of Iowa. The building served as a 7-12 building until the 1999-00 school year. Recent additions were built in 1994 (classrooms) and in 1998. The 1998 referendum financed the construction of the beautiful 850 seat Performing Arts Center, the 2200 seat gymnasium, commons/cafeteria remodeling and expansion, kitchen renovation, the spacious Instructional Media/Technology Center, and the addition of two lab-lecture science rooms.

The high school facility also has: a 340 seat Little Theater, four large music rehearsal rooms, auxiliary gymnasium, 3000 square foot weight room, large wrestling room, eight computer labs (including one mobile lab), 3 visual art studios, six industrial technology labs, an aquaculture laboratory, 5 well-equipped science laboratories (in addition to the new labs built in 1999) and ample classroom space.

Work will begin in September, 2006 to add a music rehearsal complex, two new science labs, a multipurpose room, new art studio, new guidance center, graphics lab, and a total of 21 new classrooms.
