I am so excited to continue my position as mentor coach for the Linn-Mar Elementary Schools.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Iowa State University. I completed my Masters of Education degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
I have taught first grade in the Linn-Mar district for 22 years. I have also taught kindergarten in Vinton, Iowa, totaling 35 years of teaching. During my teaching career I have had the opportunity to have many student teachers in my classroom. It was so exciting to help those ‘soon to be’ new teachers. I now have the opportunity and privilege to mentor the new teachers in our district.
It has been an exciting journey watching and helping the new teachers to learn and grow in their new profession. We have had the opportunity to plan together, teach together and reflect on lessons. We have discussed classroom management, procedures, lesson plans, lesson pacing, and instructional practices. We have discussed and used the important practice of reflection in our teaching and have worked on using powerful feedback with our students. A monthly book club with sharing of ideas is a part of our mentoring program. We continue to work together to reach our highest potential and in turn help the students to reach their highest potential.
‘The mentors in my life, inspire me to fulfill my highest potential.’
