My name is Debra Barry and I have been teaching in the Linn-Mar School District the past 20 years. This Fall I will be leaving the classroom to help Linn-Mar launch a new teacher leadership program. I will be coordinating the program with Erin Watts. We will help 18 full-time staff members provide instructional coaching, support, and resources to all our teaching staff PK-12. We also will be working with a variety of teachers in the classroom as they implement curriculum, and programs mandated by our state. I am very excited to be part of this new venture!
I have had the privilege of teaching every grade K-8th except for 6th grade. My prior teaching experience includes 3 years of middle school Social Studies at Excelsior, 4 years teaching Title Math and 4th Grade at Linn-Grove, and 12 years teaching K-4 at Bowman Woods Elementary.
In 2000, I completed my MA in Social Studies Education at Coe College. My undergraduate education came from The University of Iowa–Go Hawks!! I live in Marion, with my husband, my 7-year-old son, and our dog, Lucy. In my “free” time I love to write children’s books, visit my local coffee shop, go shopping, and spend time with my family and friends.
If you should need to speak with me or set up a time to meet in person, please email me or call (319) 447-3450, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
