The Linn-Mar Community School District has facilities totaling over 1,122,988 square feet. The seven elementary schools, two middle schools, high school, Aquatic Center, Learning Resource Center, Transportation, Operations and Maintenance buildings as well as their adjacent functions require energy to provide optimum and safe educational environments.
Since energy is a significant resource and cost for Linn-Mar, the District established the Energy Resource Management and Acquisition (ERMA) committee to track, recommend and implement sound energy policy. Board Policy 902.3 ‘Energy Conservation’ was established in 2005 to ensure energy is considered in facility decisions.
This web site and its links describe the energy and sustainability initiatives the District has accomplished and plans to undertake to get the best value from its energy dollar.
