Deb Wegmann
Congratulations to Deb Wegmann, the teacher-librarian at Westfield Elementary.
Her story is the July, 2019 Linn-Mar Highlight!
I received my B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa in Elementary Education with a minor in science. From there I taught four years as a 6th-grade science teacher at Independence Middle School in Independence, Iowa. I then taught one year of 4th grade before moving to Marion.
In 2000, I came to Westfield as a fifth-grade grade teacher then changed grade levels to a 3rd grade teacher. During that time I received my Masters in Education and a social studies endorsement from Coe College.
I was given the opportunity to become the librarian at Westfield in 2007 and that brought me back to UNI to earn an endorsement in Library Studies. I love my career as teacher-librarian! It is wonderful to be able to work with every student in our building on a weekly basis. I look forward to working with Wesfield children in the library as well as with technology.
In 2016 we brought the Makerspace movement to our Westfield library. It has been an exciting adventure for both myself as well as our students. I hope to create an atmosphere of creativity and exploration in the library.
