5th-9th Graders Chosen for Statewide OPUS Honor Choir

23 of our finest vocalists from all Linn-Mar intermediate and middle schools, along with high school freshmen have been selected to perform as part of the statewide OPUS Honor Choir.

Opus participants go through a stringent audition process. The kids that are selected are “cream of the crop” for their age group. Approximately 3,000 singers auditioned for 150 positions from all over the state.

The students travel to Iowa State University in Ames to rehearse with all the singers. The group then performs at an afternoon concert.

The students have been working with individual directors to prepare 5 pieces of music. It is memorized and ready to go for the concert. Their day in Ames is a “festival” and an “all-day tweak”. The day ends with the perfect rehearsal that ends in a performance.
