The Linn-Mar Teaching and Learning Department has assembled a collection of resources for families during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Below is a comprehensive list of clickable links and brief descriptions for additional educational resources. Please share!

The primary resource Linn-Mar uses is Office365 and it is available to all staff and students found at https://myapps.microsoft.com or from our LM website under Students & Staff > O365Mail/OneDrive. We recommend that teachers and students use Microsoft Teams for class and staff meetings.

  • American Chemistry Society – Selection of articles arranged by the chemistry concepts they cover.
  • At Home Learning – Google document for at-home learning. Template schedule for upper elementary and middle grades.
  • Backpack Sciences – Series of four free video tutorials on how to teach hands-on elementary science.
  • Boardmaker – Meet Boardmaker Activities-to-Go! Free, printable activities for students in K-12. Whether you are an educator, speech language pathologist, behavior specialist, or parent, start teaching today.
  • BrainPop – animated movies, assessment resources, and creative tools for distance learning, support for projects/homework and keeping students on track with their studies.
  • Breakout Edu – Collection of digital games that students can play at home. Students can click on any game and start playing!
  • CircleTime Fun – Must sign up for free beta classes. Kids classes from home. Watch on-demand or participate live. Learn and bond with your 0-6 year old. Follow and interact with an expert instructor.
  • CK-12 Foundation – Hand-picked lessons each month. March lessons focus on math and science.
  • ClassDojo – Connects teachers with students and parents to build amazing classroom communities.

  • Edmodo – Distance Learning Toolkit. Teachers, students, and parents can use Edmodo to communicate and continue education – always for free – even when in-person learning isn’t possible.

  • Kahoot – Engage students in learning even when they’re not in class and stay on track with curriculum while instructing online.

  • Khan Academy – Resources for schools, teachers and parents during school closures.
  • Kids Discover Online – Google form to submit request for closed schools for three free months of access
  • Minecraft: Education Edition – resources for distance learning with minecraft. Education edition to help educators and students stay connected to the classroom.

  • Newsela – From now until the end of the school year, any teacher that needs it can freely access Newsela’s full suite of products to assist with their learning continuity plans. We’re also offering frequent professional learning resources to help them develop their mastery of distance learning techniques.
  • Pear Deck – When our schools close, students and families lose an important connection to each other and to learning opportunities. As schools anticipate or experience closures, we want to help educators keep students connected to their learning community.   • Schoology – Our Basic package is for instructors, students, parents, and advisers who want to improve learning at the classroom level. It’s free and easy to sign up.
  • ScreenCastify – tool for blended learning.
  • Seesaw – Seesaw helps educators engage all learners, transform family engagement, and save time.
  • SmartMusic – SmartMusic is a web-based suite of music education tools that support efficient practice, helping musicians to develop and grow.
  • Stemscopes – As districts and campuses evaluate their school environments in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we want to ensure that all STEMscopes users are fully supported during this uncertain time. Whether in the classroom or from home, teachers and students can access our digital curriculum. In the event that your campus is closed, you can assign student activities online for them to complete from home. Students can access these assignments from any device with a web browser. All assignable resources are indicated by a blue S throughout our digital platform.
  • Typing Club – It is web based and highly effective. TypingClub is (and will always be) free for both individuals and schools. There is an optional paid school edition.
