Boys Swim Team Wins Linn-Mar’s First District Title

Linn-Mar Boys Swim Team Holding 2017 District Swimming Champion BannerThe week could not have ended on a higher note for the Linn-Mar Boys Swim Team.

Saturday, the team beat the odds by winning the Mississippi Valley Conference Boys’ District Title at Coe College after the event was moved from the Aquatic Center just hours before the meet was scheduled to take place.

Cedar Rapids Washington had laid claim to the District Title for 53 years – since 1957.  Linn-Mar won two individual events with Brycen Snell winning the 100 freestyle and the team of Matt Peng, Brycen Snell, Matthew Mather, and Hogan Myers winning the 200-freestyle relay.

The Lions edged out the Warriors 380-373.5 to earn the District Title.

It was just over a week ago the team took first place at the MVC Boys’ Varsity Swimming SuperMeet (also a first in school history) at home at the Aquatic Center.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association Boys’ State High School Swimming Meet is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 12:30 PM at the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA. For details, visit the IHSSA website.

Congratulations to the Linn-Mar Swim Team and Coaching Staff on this monumental achievement.
