Fall Sports COVID-19 Spectator Guidelines 

The Linn-Mar Community School District in cooperation with The Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC), and based upon guidance received from the Governor’s Office of the State of Iowa, the Iowa Department of Education, the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, and the Iowa High School Athletic Association, has released its procedures for spectator admission to the MVC member school fall sports seasons. 

Admission:

Normal admission will be charged at each venue. Exact change is preferred. 

Linn-Mar Student Activity Tickets will be accepted for home events excluding tournaments/invitationals. 

-Football Soph/Varsity- $7/$5

-JV/Sophomore Football- $3/$2

-Volleyball Soph/JV/Varsity- $5/$4

-Lower Level Volleyball- $3/$2

-Swimming-$5/$4 

Attendance:

Attendance and capacity limitations are determined by each MVC school for each sport, venue and/or event. Please refer to the 2020 Fall Spectator COVID-19 Guidelines for each school available on the conference website.  

Due to the nature of this pandemic, guidelines could change please check back frequently.  

Personal Protective Equipment: 

  • Masks are required at all MVC venues for all events for fall sports: Football, Swim, Volleyball, Cross Country, and Golf. 

  • Spectators are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer 

 

Spectators are asked to: 

  • Accept personal responsibility for following public health guidelines 

  • Practice safe social distancing (limit group to single households). 

  • Be patient and use common sense 

  • Abide by posted signage 

  • Stay home if you show signs or symptoms or if you have been in contact with someone with a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days. 

  • Spectators not following guidelines may be asked to leave 

 

LM Football Specific Guidelines- (Varsity & Sophomore)

There will be limited seating to the Stadium and information will be shared with opponents the week of games. All Tickets for Linn-Mar Home Sophomore/Varsity Football games will be Pre-Sold the week of the event to family members of performing students.  No general admittance tickets are available and no tickets will be sold the night of the event. 

-Families will receive guidance via email and twitter for the sale times @lmhs_athletics. 

– Upon entry to the stadium, parental groups will be separated into different sections of the bleachers based on which team/group their child is performing. Guidance on seating areas will be posted and distributed the week of the event.

 

LM Football Specific Guidelines- (Jv and Freshman)

We will not limit the number of spectators for lower-level football games and only the West Side of the stadium (Home side) will be open.

-Stadium passes/wristbands are not required for lower-level football games. But, spectators must purchase admission at the gate. 

-Social distancing and masks throughout the contest are required. 

-No elementary or middle school students will be allowed to enter without a parent/guardian.

 

LM General Football Guidelines- (All Levels)

The North Side of the stadium will be closed to spectators. The northside concession stand will not be open. 

-Concessions will be available varsity nights with only bottled drinks and pre-packaged items sold. 

-Every other row of the bleachers will be marked off and not usable for seating in the student section (entire lower level of home bleachers). Limited tickets will be pre-sold for students the week of the game – pay attention to twitter for information @lmhs_athletics. Seniors will have the first option to buy the limited amount. Then leftover tickets (if any) will be offered to Juniors. Sophomores and Freshman will not have the opportunity to buy student section seats. Students must wear a mask the entire time they are in the stadium and will be placed 6 feet apart at all times. 

-Family members living in the same household may sit together in the same rows. Pods of no more than 10 people. 

-Social distancing of at least 6 feet should happen between family units. 

-All spectators are required to wear a protective face covering for admission and throughout the duration of the contest. If seated in your group, the mask may be removed to eat and drink. 

-Elementary/Middle School students will be allowed in with a family member or guardian only. These students must have a pre-sold ticket/wristband and must be sitting with their family. There are no Middle School or Elementary Student Sections. Students must stay with or be escorted by the guardian at all times when going to the concession stand or restroom. 

-Passes (Student Activity Passes, MVC Passes, Booster Club Passes) will be honored for buying wristbands but no passes will be accepted for entry to the games on game night – you must have a wristband to enter the facility. 

-All coaches and non-playing members on the sideline will wear a mask. 

-It is recommended that all players wear their mask when not competing on the field. 

-Personnel in the press box need to have a mask unless they are talking and social distance. 

-Tailgating will not be allowed on campus. 

-Visiting teams should use social distancing guidelines while using the locker room. 

-Fans are not allowed on the field unless they are part of a specific organized group. 

 

LM Volleyball Specific Guidelines- (All Levels- Varsity, JV, Soph, Freshman) 

All spectators are required to wear a protective face covering for admission and throughout the duration of the contest. Mask may be removed to eat and drink if social distancing requirements are met. 

-Seating will not be limited in Linn-Mar Gym but we do ask that every other row be sat in and social distancing is followed.. 

-Family members may sit in groups/pods of up to 10 people. There should be 6’ separating each group/pod. 

-Coaches should wear masks as much as possible. 

-It is suggested that participants wear masks anytime they are not on the actual playing floor. 

-Concessions will be available on varsity nights only with only bottled drinks and pre-packaged items sold. 

-Student section – there will be NO student section. Students attending must social distance and sit in pods of 10 or less. Please no standing, to allow others around you to see the floor, as seating is limited. Masks must be worn the entire time. 

-Families should not congregate and wait after the completion of the match. Please leave and go to your cars and wait for your athlete. 

 

LM Swimming Specific Guidelines- (All Levels-Varsity, JV, Diving Competitions)

-All spectators are required to wear a protective face covering for admission and throughout the duration of the contest. 

-It is suggested that participants wear masks anytime they are not in the pool. 

-Coaches should wear masks as much as possible. 

– 200 total tickets will be sold for each home swim meet. 

-Every other row of the bleachers will be marked off and not usable for seating. 

-Family members living in the same household may sit together in pods of 10 or less in the same row.

Social distancing of at least 6 feet should be maintained between family units. 

 

Golf Specific Guidelines- (All Levels- Varsity, JV, 9/10)

-Masks should be worn around clubhouses and anytime social distancing of 6’ cannot be Maintained. 

-Masks should be worn by players while on putting green and driving range. 

-Course-specific guidelines will be shared by coaches and followed. 

 

Cross Country Specific Guidelines- (All Levels-Varsity, JV, 9/10) 

-Masks are to be worn around the course at all times. 

-Guidelines provided by each venue should be shared by coaches and followed. 

-At Linn-Mar, fans are not allowed to gather around the start or finish lines. 

-It is recommended that families of runners limit their attendance to 4 or less total fans. 

-Team tent areas are not allowed. 

-Athletes should not congregate before or after races. 

-Families should not wait to meet with runners after the race. If a runner is riding home with family, they should meet you at the car.
