Giving Back to the Community at Oak Ridge

Current Linn-Mar Junior and Oak Ridge Graduate Sadie Staker is teaming up with HACAP and the United Way on another community project. The current Oak Ridge students are getting a great lesson on giving back to their community.

Oak Ridge 6th and 7th graders recently spent part of their day putting together hygiene kits.
The kits contained things like soap, toothpaste and shampoo.

The completed kits will go to local agencies that work to meet the immediate needs of those in crisis, including emergency shelters throughout the community.

Last fall, Sadie coordinated a Volunteer Fair to introduce students to non-profit assistance groups in our area. Representatives from the organizations set up booths to give the kids a look at the wide range of volunteering opportunities available to them and their families.
