Intermediate Students Build “BizTown”

Boulder Peak and Hazel Point fifth grade students had the chance to stroll the streets of Junior Achievement’s “BizTown” beginning this week. BizTown combines in-class learning with a half-day student visit to a simulated town. These fifth graders learned how to create bank accounts to consume goods from local businesses, and then stepped into an employer role and learned more about what it takes to operate banks, manage restaurants, and financial aspects of operating other types of businesses. The students worked their way through their town as they wrote checks, visited the doctor, and even voted for elected officials.

 

Students used this fun activity to better understand the roles they play as citizens, workers, and consumers in their community.
