Linn-Mar Announces Administrative Promotions

Tammi Turner.

Tammi TurnerTammi is currently the Facilitator at Westfield Elementary School. She previously served as a 1st and 3rd-grade teacher in the Burlington School District for 12 years. Ms. Turner recently obtained her administrative license and will become the Associate Principal at Westfield Elementary. 

“We are very excited to be able to promote Tammi into this administrative position.  Her experience, knowledge, and leadership skills will be a great asset to the students and staff at Westfield Elementary School where she has already established strong relationships in her role as a school facilitator.  Tammi will be a wonderful addition to our district leadership team.” – Shannon Bisgard, Linn-Mar Superintendent.

Elyssa McDowell.

Elyssa McDowellElyssa is the new Venture Academics Strategic Partnership Coordinator at Linn-Mar. Elyssa currently works in the district’s Teaching and Learning Department. 

In a joint effort with MEDCO (The Marion Economic Development Corporation) Elyssa will serve as a liaison between the classroom and our community business partners. She will work to create and enhance real-world opportunities for Linn-Mar Venture students.

“MEDCO’s alignment and investment in Venture is a natural extension of the work we support to inspire students as they discover and develop their unique pathways,” says Nick Glew, President of Marion Economic Development Corporation. “We are excited to serve as a conduit connecting student learning to authentic project opportunities across the community.”   

“We’re very excited to add Elyssa to our Venture Academics team.  Elyssa brings to us a wealth of experience in the processes of project-based learning along with exceptional knowledge of the Marion/Cedar Rapids metro area.” –  Mark Hutcheson, LMCSD Director of Venture Academics 

Congratulations to Tammi and Elyssa. Both positions will become effective July 1st, 2021, pending board approval.
