LMHS Theatre Department Receives Special Honor

Students from the Linn-Mar High School theatre department will perform an excerpt from the April production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid and participate in a collaborative inter-school medley led by guest Broadway music director, Adam Jones, and choreographer, Sara Brians, at the 2017 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase.

Presented by Des Moines Performing Arts, the Showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Monday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. The event will recognize a total of 60 schools from across the entire state.

Linn-Mar High School will also be recognized with the following awards and honors:
• Outstanding Musical Production
• Outstanding Student Orchestra
• Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role – Connor DeJong as “Scuttle”
• Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role – Claire Kopesky as “Ariel”
• Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role – Beth Smith as “Ursula”
• Special Recognition for Ensemble
• Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role – Katie Andreasen as “Flounder”
• Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role – Casey Cerveny as “Sebastian”
