Solo/Ensemble Music Performers Impress Judges
Over 500 music students from Linn-Mar High School participated in the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Solo/Ensemble Festival at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School on Saturday, April 15th. Students performed individually and in groups for adjudicators and received a Divisional Rating of I (Superior) through V.
Of the 273 performances given by Linn-Mar students, 118 performances received a Division I (Superior) rating. Additionally, several Linn-Mar students were named “Outstanding Performers” in their respective performance centers. Each adjudicator could name one performance in their center for this honor. Out of the 12 “Outstanding Performers” recognized, 7 were from Linn-Mar:
- Kate Flugstad – Alto Solo
- Michael Lemos – Violin Solo
- Christian Maakestad – Marimba Solo
- Parker Nicks – Tuba Solo
- Richard Phan – Viola Solo
- Abbey Vezina – Soprano Saxophone Solo
- Brock Whitham – Clarinet Solo
