Superintendent Search Finalists

The Linn-Mar Community School District Board of Directors has announced three finalists in its search for the district’s next superintendent. Out of the 13 applicants for the position, five candidates were invited to screening interviews on March 10.

Following the screening interviews, the three finalists are Amy Kortemeyer, Nick Ouellette, and Chace Ramey.

Kortemeyer currently serves as one of two deputy superintendents in the Iowa City Community School District, where she has been responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning and assisting in leading the district-wide implementation of Marzano’s High Reliability Schools framework. She has also been a member of the American Association of School Superintendents since 2014. Previously, Kortemeyer served as both an assistant superintendent and director of elementary schools in the Iowa City CSD.

As the current superintendent of the Hudson School District in northwestern Wisconsin, Ouellette is responsible for leading more than 5,400 students and 820 staff members. In this role, he has helped operate and pass a $90 million referendum and launched a rebranding campaign for the district. He also served as the elected president of the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators in 2022. Ouellette previously was superintendent of the Odebolt-Arthur and Battle Creek-Ida Grove CSDs in Iowa.

Currently, Ramey serves as a deputy superintendent in the Iowa City CSD. In this position, he has led collaborative implementation of the district’s new school improvement and instructional frameworks and has overseen successful district campaigns for the renewal of PPEL and SAVE levies. Additionally, Ramey has served on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties. He previously was the chief human resources officer in the Iowa City CSD.

As a next step, the board and stakeholder interview teams will conduct final interviews with each of the three finalists on Wednesday, March 22. The board then plans to discuss the candidates and reach a final decision soon after the formal interviews.

The next superintendent will begin leading the Linn-Mar Community School District effective July 1, 2023.
