The Linn-Mar Community School District would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers who took part in America Reads Day 2016.

High school students, parents, grandparents, city officials, local radio and television celebrities, professional athletes, and district representatives took time out of their day to share a story with elementary students.

America Reads, now in its 20th year, is a national challenge to improve literacy among elementary-age children. Locally, it is a two-day, joint event with Marion Independent, Cedar Rapids CSD, College Community CSD , Metro Catholic, and Summit Schools.

Last year, more than 2,500 community members shared their joy of reading with over 16,900 elementary students in grades preschool through 5th grade.
