Preschool

Registration for the 2023-2024 School Year is now open!

Use THIS LINK and follow the registration sign-up process.

2023-2024 Sign-Up for Little Lions Preschool:

Step 1: Will your child be four years of age on or before September 15, 2023? Then fill out the registration link to express your interest in a classroom spot for the 2023-2024 school year. Click Here

Step 2: Linn-Mar will email you on March 1, 2023, to confirm enrollment in Little Lions Preschool by using our lottery-based system.

Step 3: When your child is offered a spot in the program, submit the required documents listed below by the designated deadline in order to hold the spot for your child. We encourage you to begin filling out and obtaining all of the required registration documents (listed below) ahead of time as there will be a deadline to turn in these materials if your child is offered a spot. Please do not send these documents in ahead of time. HERE is a checklist to help you keep track!

If all documents are not received, your child’s name will go back onto the wait list. This is due to the high demand of the program.

Step 4: Linn-Mar will email you confirm that all documents have been received and then provide communication throughout the summer about the upcoming school year.

(Enrollment in the Little Lions program will be determined by a lottery-based system. All families have between February 6 and February 27, 2023, to fill out the registration link and to be entered into the first round of classroom placements.)

How are spots determined at Linn-Mar?

Linn-Mar’s preschool enrollment process has changed from first come first serve (timestamp) to a lottery-based system to be more equitable for all families.

The past several years, Linn-Mar preschool was full within the first 10 minutes of registration. Switching to a lottery-based system makes the process more accessible for all families in our community. All efforts will be made to enroll students who complete preschool registration; however, this may not be possible given the volume of interest in our preschool. Priority enrollment will be given to families that live in the Linn-Mar School District and have submitted all required documents.

The lottery is a computer generated, randomized selection process to accept students who apply to preschool. Families will be notified of lottery results via email beginning March 1st, 2023, and will have 48 hours to accept their child’s placement. Families then have two weeks to submit all of the required documents to district office to hold the spot. If enrollment is declined by the family, or confirmation is not received by the family, students on the waitlist will be notified of an opening.

Preschool Times and Locations

Little Lions Preschool is offered in morning or afternoon sessions at 4 of our 7 elementary buildings. All families are welcome to participate, regardless of their neighborhood school. Locations of our programs are evaluated annually and have the potential to change based on district wide enrollment numbers. During the online registration process, you will be asked to provide your top two preferences. This information helps us determine class placement but is not a guarantee. If locations change after the enrollment process has begun, families will be given an opportunity to update their location and session preferences.
