Dave Nicholson

Dave Nicholson is the Chief Financial and Operating Officer for the Linn-Mar Community School District. He recently received a prestigious award from the Iowa Association of School Business Officials (IASBO).
Nicholson received the Iowa Professional Leadership Award, one of the highest honors that Iowa ASBO bestows upon its members.

The awards are not just a measure of extraordinary deeds or a lengthy career – they are a recognition of those school business officials who have demonstrated excellence in service to their school district, communities, and their profession throughout their career and lifetime.

Criteria considered in the selection process include:

• Leadership in the Schools – The candidate has gone above and beyond the call of duty to improve the learning conditions for students in their school system.
• Leadership in the Profession – The candidate has demonstrated commitment to improving the level of professionalism among school business officials through active participation in the Association and specifically as a volunteer coordinator of the IASBO mentor program.
• Professional Development – The candidate has demonstrated a continuous interest in learning and staying abreast of developments in the field of school business management.
• Leadership in the Community – The candidate has demonstrated an active interest in improving their community through participation in local events and serving a positive role.

Dave Nicholson has been a school business official for 27 years. Dave has served as the board secretary and board treasurer. He oversees the following departments: Accounting, Payroll, Transportation, Building and Grounds, Nutrition, Printshop and Purchasing department.

He has served as an IASBO Regional Director, served on the IASBO Board of Directors, and is an IASBO Past President. He has been an IASBO mentor, helping other school business officials through the Mentoring Program, and has served on the IASBO Professional Development Committee. Dave is a graduate of the Iowa School Business Management Academy. He has served as regional director, been on the IASBO board of directors, and served as president. He has twice been a mentor and has served on the professional development committee.

Dave is a leader in action. He is an outstanding employee and a mentor to many!
