Sutra Iyer
Congratulations to Linn-Mar Senior Sutra Iyer. Sutra is one of seven Iowa semifinalists for the prestigious 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars program.
From nearly 3.7 million graduating high school seniors from across the country, 5,345 students were identified as candidates in this program, and 625 semifinalists were selected. These semifinalists form the pool from which the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars will be chosen.
“Sutra is so academically gifted,” said Linn-Mar Community School District High School Principal Dr. Jeff Gustason. “It is such an honor for students to be named a semi-finalist, and to be one of only five other semi-finalists in our state speaks to the level required for this designation. I am pleased for Sutra, and I am pleased for her parents and family. Linn-Mar High School is proud of Sutra for being named a U.S. Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalist.”
The United States Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by Executive Order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our Nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 1979, the Program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the visual, creative, and performing arts. In 2015, the program was again extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields.
The 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars will be announced in May.
