Generational Bonding

Thanks to Summit Pointe Senior Living Community for providing a place for our 9th-grade football team dinner after the weather forced a change of plan. Your kind words were inspiring for us all.

Summit Pointe Social Media Post:

“Something pretty cool happened at Summit Pointe Senior Living Community today, and it happened unintentionally but resulted in lots of good interactions and feelings!

The Linn-Mar 9th grade football wanted a team dinner and due to rain had to change venues. Summit Pointe was available to host.

Football posterFirst funny flyers were hung to “warn” tenants that the hallway and activity room would be filled with football players BEFORE they came. Tenants kept stopping by to see if the players arrived, they were EXCITED to be able to help the team. Tenants literally stopped by to tell us they were “proud” to be helpful.

The respectful interactions, these 9th grade football players had with tenants-they laughed and joked with our tenants.

They talked about school, sports, and even girls.

Then the Summit Pointe bell choir invited the team, parents, and coaches into their practice to see them perform God Bless America. Our tenants performed proudly, players listened intently and some parents even had tears in their eyes (one parent was in full tears). At the end, the choir earned the biggest applause! Here’s what was great, it wasn’t a planned event. The interactions, excitement, and respect that these distinctly different generations had toward each other were awesome to see.

They thanked us for providing a gathering space… we thank them for brightening our evening! Good luck on the rest of your season 9th-grade Linn-Mar Lions!”

Thanks again, Summit Pointe Senior Living Community. We’re sure it was an evening the team won’t soon forget! Together, We ARE Linn-Mar!
