LMHS Student and Counselor Presented with Community Award

Two members of the Linn-Mar family were recognized as recipients of the Dr. Percy and Lileah Harris “Who Is My Neighbor?” award for their work in the community.  The award was presented virtually on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Linn-Mar High School senior, Kayla Purchase was nominated for her work toward racial equity and efforts to help her neighbors after the August 10th, 2020 derecho. She also helped lead a social justice rally at Linn-Mar High School last year and currently volunteers at her church as the youth choir director.

Linn-Mar High School Student Assistance Counselor, Janessa Carr, was nominated for her work with the Marion community. She is a co-founder of the Marion Alliance for Racial Equity, volunteers as worship coordinator at her church, and leads the Social Justice Club at the Linn-Mar High School.
