Three Linn-Mar Bands Recognized by State Bandmasters
The sounds of the Linn-Mar bands will be present throughout the 2022 Iowa Bandmasters Conference in Des Moines, later this spring. Three of our bands have been selected as Honor Bands for the event.
- The Hazel Point 6th Grade Band, directed by Stephanie Nuss, has been selected as the Elementary Concert Band.
- The Excelsior 8th Grade Band, directed by Mike Davies, has been chosen as the Middle School Concert Band (3A/4A Feeder).
- The LMHS Wind Ensemble, directed by Aaron Nuss, has been selected as the 4A Concert Band.
Bands are chosen based on recorded auditions of the current year’s band and selected by directors representing all six IBA districts, all levels of teaching, and all classifications of high school size.
This is the highest honor a band can achieve in the state of Iowa and our band directors are thrilled to represent Linn-Mar at the event in mid-May. Linn-Mar has a rich tradition of performances at the IBA Conference, however, this is the first time Linn-Mar has had three bands selected to perform at the same conference!
