Updates from the Transportation Office

Families that are eligible for district transportation services will receive busing information beginning at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, August 16th. The Information will be shared via our routing software “Parent Portal. Over the next few days, be on the lookout for an email from “Travel Tracker” for instructions on how to access the “Parent Portal”.

Additionally, busing details will be emailed to eligible parent/guardian emails listed in Powerschool.  Please verify the contact information for your student in Powerschool to ensure timely notifications related to transportation.  Again, we plan to release 23-24 busing information to the “parent portal” and via email beginning at 5:00 PM on August 16th.

Student Ridership/Bus Passes. Postcard bus passes are no longer being used. The district has acquired a student ridership system, in which each student will scan on and off their buses. The district is providing, via US mail, a laminated bus pass that contains the authorized student’s name, photo, student number, and QR code. Students need to have their bus passes daily, as they will be required to scan on and off their buses. If the student carries a cell phone, they may scan a photo of their bus pass rather than carrying the actual bus pass. If the original bus pass is lost or misplaced, please call the transportation office and a copy will be emailed to you. Bus passes will be mailed beginning Friday, August 11th.

Through the first several weeks of school, training for students and transportation staff on the student ridership system will be ongoing. Once that is completed and all system hardware and software has been vetted, parents will be provided access to our “Parent App”, which will allow parents to be notified when their bus is approaching, see their student scans, and a variety of other information. Details on this will be forthcoming during the fall of 2023.

Transportation staffing. Staffing continues to be a challenge as we begin the 23-24 school year. To address that, transportation has had to review and streamline each bus route in the district. As a result, parents will notice fewer bus stops per route and longer walking distances to bus stops. These are necessary strategies that help us to meet the transportation requirements of the district.

Thank you for your support. Have a GREAT school year!
