Welcome to the New School Year!

Dear Linn-Mar Families,

It is hard to believe that August is here! I am excited to welcome you to Linn-Mar Community School District’s 75th school year. For those of you that I have not met, I am Amy Kortemeyer, Superintendent of the Linn-Mar Community School District. I look forward to the opportunity to meet Linn-Mar families, students, staff, and community members!

Meet the Superintendent gfxTo assist with this, the Linn-Mar Board of Directors will be hosting a Meet & Greet on Wednesday, August 16th from 6:00-8:00 PM in the high school south commons (Door #10 by the main gym) for anyone who would like to stop by.

I hope to see you there!

A little about myself that you may already know, I previously served as Linn-Mar’s Director of Elementary Teaching & Learning from 2008 to 2015, and I most recently served as a Deputy Superintendent for the Iowa City Community School District. I am excited to be back at Linn-Mar, as it feels like returning home.

I want to extend a special thank you to former Superintendent Shannon Bisgard for his assistance in ensuring a smooth transition process for me and the district. Shannon’s willingness to meet with me before his retirement was a valuable time of learning for me as I strive to carry on the rich tradition of excellence in the Linn-Mar Community School District.

Online eRegistration for the 2023-24 school year is now open! The eRegistration process is a great opportunity for parents to ensure the district has your family’s correct contact information. The individual schools will also be sending out important information about the new school year very soon, so having your family’s correct contact information in PowerSchool is important to ensure you will receive the information. If you encounter any problems with PowerSchool, or the eRegistration process, please contact your student’s building for additional assistance and they will be happy to assist you.

  • New Families: Should visit the ENROLL tab on the district’s website (www.Linnmar.k12.ia.us) and click on NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT to register their students.
  • Returning Families: Should sign into their existing PowerSchool accounts to complete the eRegistration process for the new school year.
  • We are starting the school year with student legal names in PowerSchool. Per Iowa Code, if you would like for your student to use a different name, nickname, pronoun or gender identity, guardians must fill out the Student Name Preference form within PowerSchool.

Login changes this year:

  • Student email addresses have all been changed to studentID@student.linnmar.org, (Example: 23456@student.linnmar.org). This provides better privacy for the students. Student email accounts from last year, formatted as jodoe@student.linnmar.org, have been redirected as aliases so they will be automatically forwarded to the new accounts.
  • Single sign-on for PowerSchool staff and students: Usernames will be the first half of your LM email address (Example: john.doe or jdoe) and your password will be the same password used for accessing your LM email. If you have any questions or issues, contact the Technology Helpdesk at 319-447-3100.

If you have general questions about the district, or just aren’t sure who to contact, please visit the HOW DO I link on the homepage (Located just below the headline stories) of the district website (www.Linnmar.k12.ia.us). The HOW DO I webpage has information on everything from volunteering and employment opportunities to the Booster Club, the Linn-Mar School Foundation, and more.

The first day of the school year is always exciting for the students and staff, and certainly for me as well! Kindergarten students with last names A-L, and those in 1st through 9th grade, will kick off the first day of school on August 23rd. Kindergarten students M-Z, and those in 10th-12th grades, will begin on August 24th.

I look forward to working with each of you as we continue to Inspire Learning, Unlock Potential, and Empower Achievement. Go Lions!

Sincerely,

Amy Kortemeyer, Superintendent of Schools

Linn-Mar Community School District
